A journey spanning three generations, from humble beginnings in the Gamtoos Valley to becoming one of South Africa's most respected farming families.
The Rautenbach family first settled on the farm Patentie 3 in the Gamtoos Valley. By 1958, the farm officially opened its doors for business, welcoming its first five employees.
Gert Rautenbach (1st) took the reins and transformed the family farm into one of Patensie's fruit and vegetable production powerhouses. His leadership extended to serving on the regional and National citrus board, contributing to South Africa's global citrus strategy.
A new generation in Gert Rautenbach (2nd) joins the farming business, bringing a fortune of mechanical expertise and passion for vegetable farming. He steered the business during numerous difficult citrus and vegetable market cycles.
After the sudden passing of Gert Rautenbach (1st) during the year of 2000, Gert Rautenbach (2nd) immediately took over as farm director and gradually expanded the farm's vegetable operation with renewed focus and direction.
The family made a bold market-based decision to shift focus entirely from citrus to vegetables and livestock production. By 2020, the Rautenbach family acquired 'Wheatlands farm' in Elandsrivier Valley, which now serves as the base for vegetable production and headquarters for the agribusiness.
